Emmanuel Anglican Church Formation Triad Vision 2021

Every Formation Triad should seek to include all three areas:
The Bull’s-eye: The aim of this type of discipleship strategy is to keep all of these areas in a balance.

1)   R:  The R stands for Relationships. Our relationship with God and our relationship with the people we come alongside (your disciples) provide the appropriate context for this strategy to work. Our first call in discipleship is to keep relationships central at all times.

 2)  2D: The 2 D’s, stand for discussion and discovery. There should always be an open bible in which each person can discuss insights from the past week of Christian education (or personal time), or discover new insights during the meeting time. (It is good to give homework and process insights together)

3). 3A: The 3 A’s stand for Application, Accountability and Affirmation. Life in Christ is an application journey where we see the value of walking out our faith in the public. Accountability helps this journey with loving fellow pilgrims on the way who often give affirmation, or the Atta-boy’s we all need to stay on the narrow path.

Some good questions to ask of any text: From Professor Mark Strauss:

  1. Where is this passage in the larger story of Scripture?
  2. What is the author’s purpose in light of the passage’s genre and historical and literary context?
  3. How does this passage inform our understanding of the nature of God and his purpose for the world?
  4. What does this passage teach us about who we ought to be (Attitudes and character) and what we ought to do (goals and actions) as those seeking to reflect the nature and purpose of God?

We also recommend reading this hermeneutics book to grasp more fully how to read and apply God's Holy Word.

Anglican Catechism

Weekly Content: What should you read together?

The Anglican Catechism is a great place to start. This newly approved Catechism is a solid beginning place for new and mature Christians to work through some of the most important aspects of the Christian life. There are four areas of classic discipleship that this Catechism leads us through:
  1. Salvation
  2. The Apostle's Creed
  3. the Lord's Prayer
  4. The 10 Commandments
The three core areas; The Apostle's Creed, The Lord's Prayer and the 10 Commandments have been tried and true means to catechize (Disciple) new believers for nearly 2 millennium.
